Tending to Your Inner Child This Season: Comfort, Magic & a Soft Place to Land

The holiday season can bring up so much.

For many, it’s a time of celebration, connection, and beauty—but even in the most joyful moments, it can stir something tender beneath the surface. A wave of emotion you can’t quite name. A sense of longing. A familiar ache.

I’ve been noticing this in myself lately, and in many of the clients I’m working with:
A gentle invitation to pause, soften, and check in with the part of us that often gets stirred up this time of year—
our inner child.

That Younger Part of You Still Lives Within You

Even when we’ve grown and healed, the inner child still lives inside us.

Our younger selves might show up in moments of joy, wonder, or silliness. But they can also appear when we’re feeling overwhelmed, left out, or emotionally raw—especially during the holidays.

If you grew up in a household where the holidays were stressful, emotionally distant, or unpredictable… that imprint doesn’t just disappear with age. The smells, the songs and the rituals can awaken memories and emotions you haven’t touched in a while.

And even if the holidays were lovely, the sheer intensity of this season can bring up old fears or unmet needs.

A Personal Practice: Sitting With Your Inner Child

Sometimes, I just sit quietly and ask, “How is she doing today?”
I picture a younger version of myself—not a perfect photo, just a sense of her—and I ask what she needs.

Some days she wants comfort. I remind her that we've got this.
Some days she wants fun.
Some days she just wants to be told that she’s doing okay.

This is where the healing begins—not in fixing or analyzing, but in presence. In simply acknowledging that the inner child is there, and that you’re willing to listen. Surround this experience with unconditional love.

If you’ve felt stuck, sad, or unusually sensitive this month, I invite you to try it:
Take a breath.
Put your hand on your heart.
And say:
“Sweet one, I’m here. I see you. I love you.  You didn’t do anything wrong. We've got this”

If you feel like something is bubbling under the surface—if fears or old emotions are rising—I’d be honored to support you in a 1:1 Theta Healing® session.

Together, we’ll hold space for your inner child and uncover the root of what you're still carrying. You’ll learn how to release it gently, and invite in trust, peace, and self-acceptance in its place.

This season, may you give yourself permission to be soft.
To rest.
To remember.
To reclaim a little magic—not through performance, but through presence.

You are worthy of that magic.
Your inner child reminds you of that, too.
