When Work Gets in the Way of Peace: Releasing Limiting Beliefs About Your Job

Finding clarity, releasing subconscious beliefs, and reconnecting with your inner wisdom.

October greetings!

As I've been connecting with the Creator and asking for guidance this month, I've been drawn to think about our work lives. I've also had several recent ThetaHealing® sessions where work seems to be getting in the way of peace and connection with our divine aspects.

How much of your day is spent thinking about work? And how much of that time is filled with thoughts that bring you joy, satisfaction, or a sense of purpose?

For many of us, work is a significant part of our lives. It provides for our families, gives us opportunities to contribute, and can bring a wonderful sense of accomplishment. But it can also become a source of frustration, resentment, exhaustion, and worry. Sometimes we don't even realize how much of that energy we're carrying with us after the workday is over.

You might find yourself replaying a conversation with your boss, worrying about everything that needs to get done tomorrow, or feeling responsible for things that really aren't yours to manage. I invite you to pause for a moment and consider: What do you believe about work, and are those beliefs helping you experience the life you want?

You may remember that in ThetaHealing®, we use energy or muscle testing as part of our belief work to explore what we may be holding on subconscious levels. Our thoughts and beliefs can influence the way we experience situations, sometimes in ways we don't consciously recognize.

I'd like to invite you to notice how you feel when you consider statements such as:

• “Work will kill me.”
• “I hate my boss.”
• “I'm the only one who gets anything done.”
• “If I don't do it, nobody will.”
• “I have to work hard to be worthy.”
• “I can't relax until everything is finished.”

Do any of these sound familiar? You may not consciously agree with these statements, but perhaps something in you responds to them. With muscle testing you can find out what you believe, maybe finding a yes that is amusing. Maybe you notice tension in your shoulders, a heaviness in your stomach, or a familiar sense of frustration. Simply noticing your thoughts and the feelings in your body is a beautiful place to begin. Connecting with the energy of unconditional love and requesting the removal of that belief is a solid practice.

From my ThetaHealing® perspective, some of these beliefs may have been with us for a very long time. We may have learned them from our families, our experiences, or the expectations of the people around us. And here's something interesting to consider: Sometimes the beliefs that create the most discomfort are also beliefs we think we need.

One of the things we explore in ThetaHealing® is how a limiting belief might actually be helping us in some way.

For example, anger can be a motivator. Perhaps feeling angry about your work gives you the energy to keep going or to stand up for yourself. Grudges might make you feel safe. If someone disappointed you at work, holding onto that resentment may seem like a way to protect yourself from being hurt again.

And feeling responsible for getting everything done could be a trait you've carried from your genetic family. Perhaps being hardworking, dependable, or taking care of everyone else was an important part of how your family survived. You may have learned that being responsible for everything was the best way to feel secure or appreciated.

These beliefs may have served a purpose at one time, but do you still need them in the same way today?

I find this such an important question because we don't need to judge ourselves for holding these beliefs. We can recognize that they may have helped us, appreciate whatever lessons they brought, and then consider whether we're ready to release them.

You can be responsible without carrying everyone else's responsibilities. You can be motivated without anger. You can have healthy boundaries without holding onto resentment.

In ThetaHealing®, when you give permission for limiting beliefs to be pulled and sent to the light, we also explore the lessons and benefits you may have gained from those beliefs. We can ask the Creator, the source of creative unconditional love, to help us receive new feelings of safety, trust, and peace.

I'd like to suggest that it's not necessary to hold onto beliefs that stop you from feeling peaceful or fulfilled. We can keep the wisdom we've gained from our experiences without continuing to carry the emotional weight.

So how can we make decisions about our day-to-day work? Perhaps you've been thinking about changing jobs, having a difficult conversation, setting better boundaries, or simply finding a way to feel more peaceful in the work you're already doing.

Before making a big decision, I encourage you to take some time to connect with your own inner wisdom. Let's do a little journaling and call in our guides to help us find clarity.

I especially like the practice of writing by hand. Handwriting engages us differently than typing on a keyboard, and taking the time to put pen to paper can help us slow down and reflect.

Find a quiet place and take a sheet of paper. Fold it in half so you have two sides to work with.

On one side, write down the aspects of your work that you would like to change. Perhaps it's your schedule, your workload, a difficult relationship, or the way you feel when you wake up on Monday morning. Be honest with yourself. This is your space to notice what isn't working without judging your feelings.

On the other side, write down the lessons, growth, and things that spark gratitude. What has your work taught you? What strengths have you developed? Are there people you've met, experiences you've gained, or opportunities you've had that you're grateful for?

You might be surprised to discover that both sides of the page contain important information. You can appreciate what your work has given you while also recognizing what you're ready to change.

Once you've completed your list, I invite you to meditate with it. Take some time without sound or distractions. Notice your breathing and allow your body to become comfortable. Connect with your inner wisdom, pray, and ask the Creator and your wise guides for clarity.

You might ask yourself:

• What am I meant to learn from this situation?
• Which beliefs am I ready to release?
• What would it feel like to experience peace in my work life?
• What action would be for my highest and best?

Then be quiet and listen. You don't have to force an answer. Sometimes clarity comes through a feeling, a new perspective, or an idea you hadn't considered before.

Think about your possible actions and allow yourself to decide what comes next. Perhaps the next step is a conversation, a change in your daily routine, or simply giving yourself permission to rest without guilt. You may discover that you don't need to change everything about your work life to begin feeling differently about it.

I believe we're here to bring love into the world, and our work can certainly be part of that. But I also believe we're meant to experience the unconditional love of the Creator in all aspects of our lives. We don't have to wait until retirement, until our workload gets lighter, or until everyone around us behaves differently to begin making room for peace.

Sometimes that begins with noticing a thought you've repeated for years and asking whether it's still serving you. Sometimes it begins with giving yourself permission to do things differently. And sometimes it begins with asking for support.

If you've been feeling stuck in your work life, overwhelmed by responsibility, or unsure about what direction to take, I invite you to schedule a 1:1 ThetaHealing® session with me.

Together, we can explore the subconscious beliefs that may be contributing to your stress, recognize the lessons you've gained from your experiences, and work with the Creator's unconditional love to release what no longer serves you. My intention is to offer a supportive space where you can reconnect with your inner wisdom and find greater clarity as you make decisions that feel right for your life.

As we move through October, I invite you to notice how your thoughts about work affect the rest of your day. What would it feel like to approach your responsibilities with a little more ease? What if you could keep your dedication, your talents, and your sense of purpose while letting go of some of the heaviness? Visualize that reading these words become a blessing, a set of downloaded beliefs for you. I know how to see and feel my responsibilities from God’s perspective. I know how to take action for my highest and best, releasing heaviness as I notice it.

Imagine what might be possible when your work is no longer getting in the way of your peace.

With love and light,

Jill
